Which COMPACTWALL system is suitable for which type of facade substrate?
After the facade is installed: COMPACTWALL TS/TL for concrete and trapezoidal facades, COMPACTWALL TR for sandwich facades. The difference lies in the force transmission—with sandwich panels, loads must not be transferred to the facing layer, which is why TR transfers them to the wall ties via sandwich self-tapping screws. The specific facade construction then determines which version is used in a given project: the profile geometry for trapezoidal panels, and the location of the wall studs for sandwich panels.
How do COMPACTWALL TS/TL differ from the taller TSE/TLE models?
In two dimensions. Module orientation: TS and TSE use short rails for landscape-oriented modules, while TL and TLE use bridges for portrait-oriented modules. Wall clearance: TS and TL have a clearance of 18 millimeters, while the raised versions, TSE and TLE, have a clearance of 80 millimeters. The greater distance improves rear ventilation and cooling of the modules, creates space for optimizers, and makes it easier to comply with fire safety regulations.
When is COMPACTWALL TR used for sandwich facades?
Whenever the facade consists of sandwich panels—for the same reason we use COMPACTMETAL TR on sandwich roofs: The outer layer of a panel must not bear the loads permanently. The TR rail absorbs wind pressure and wind suction and transfers them via sandwich self-tapping screws to the wall studs behind; the sandwich core remains unloaded. It is therefore essential that the location of the wall studs is known—for existing facades, this is the first point that should be clarified.
What information is needed to select and plan a facade installation system?
First, the substrate: concrete, trapezoidal sheet metal, or sandwich panels—this determines the system. The design also takes into account the profile geometry, module dimensions and weight, the desired module orientation, the distance from the wall, and the wind loads at the site; for sandwich facades, the position of the wall studs is also a factor.
