The COMPACTPITCH XM-F REPTILE system offers an innovative solution for a wide range of different roof tiles on pitched roofs, with a flexible cover that can be adapted to the tile shape. The roof hook can therefore always be mounted centrally on the rafter, regardless of the tile pitch, guaranteeing optimal force application.

Frequently Asked Questions About COMPACTPITCH XM-F
What is COMPACTPITCH XM-F, the universal roof hook system for tile roofs?
COMPACTPITCH XM-F REPTILE is our roof hook set for pitched roofs with virtually any standard tile shape. A flexible aluminum cover plate allows the hook to be positioned independently of the tile grid: Typically, it is centered over the rafter—rather than where the tile allows—and thus transfers the forces directly into the load-bearing roof structure. The hook itself is made of aluminum, pre-assembled with stainless steel screws, and adjustable to the height of the existing roof battens. CE-marked, with a product warranty.
For which types of roofs and roof tiles is COMPACTPITCH XM-F intended?
For pitched roofs with virtually any standard tile shape. The aluminum cover sheet is customized to fit the contour of the existing tiles. For a wider range of applications, a larger version of the cover sheet is available in anthracite and red; the standard cover sheet is available in three colors.
Why can COMPACTPITCH XM-F reduce the number of roof hooks needed?
Because the load-bearing capacity per mounting point also improves with the hook’s position. If the hook is centered over the rafter rather than placed where the shingle allows, the force is transferred directly to the load-bearing structure—each individual point bears more of the load. In areas with lower snow loads, this—in combination with the X60 rail—allows for a significant reduction in the number of roof hooks, saving on materials, drilling, and installation time. The structural analysis will determine exactly how many attachment points your project actually needs.
What is the significance of installing it directly on the rafter?
It determines how much load a single mounting point can bear: Above the rafter, the force is transferred directly to the load-bearing structure. That is why positioning above the rafter is the standard practice—the cover plate makes this possible regardless of the tile grid. For installation between two rafters, a base plate serving as a rail bridge is available; it is designed for rafter spacings of up to 900 millimeters. The 1,980-millimeter-long rail bridge is cut to size and punched on site. The structural analysis determines how many mounting points your roof requires.
What are the benefits of the flexible cover plate in the XM-F system?
It provides the system’s flexibility—along with the Pierce labyrinth seal. The aluminum sheet is adapted to the contour of the existing tiles; the seal allows the roof hook to be fed through the sheet at any point while still keeping the penetration watertight. Only this makes it possible to position the hook freely above the rafter, rather than having to follow the tile pattern. For roofs with high tile ridges, we also recommend using a foam wedge: It is cut to length and glued to the cover sheet beneath the overlying tile. Follow the assembly instructions for proper installation.
When is a standard bond appropriate, and when is a cross-bond appropriate?
That depends on the module orientation. If you want to install the modules in portrait orientation, the standard mounting system is sufficient: The modules rest directly on the base rails; no second level is needed. For landscape orientation, the cross-mounting system is used—additional rails that are attached to the base rails using XPN cross connectors.
What are the benefits of COMPACTPITCH XM-F in areas with high snow loads?
In areas with high snow loads, the optimized force transfer directly into the rafters simplifies design and installation. In areas with lower snow loads, however, XM-F—when used in combination with the X60 rail—can reduce the number of roof hooks, thereby saving installation time and costs. In both cases, the project-specific structural analysis remains the determining factor.
How can I check in advance whether COMPACTPITCH XM-F is compatible with my roofing material?
Check the compatibility list for roof tiles, which is available in the download section—it’s meant for the planning phase, not the construction site. The cover plate can be adapted to almost any standard tile shape. If your roofing isn’t on the list, send us the manufacturer, model, and a photo; we’ll then determine whether the larger version of the cover plate or another COMPACTPITCH solution is a good fit.
What documents do I need for the planning and installation of COMPACTPITCH XM-F?
Use the leaflet—available in German, English, Italian, and Spanish—for preliminary selection; the roof tile compatibility guide for planning; and the intake form for project preparation. For installation, use the assembly instructions; for projects in the United Kingdom, the separate English version applies instead. Would you like to know how many roof hooks your roof needs? Let us know your location, rafter spacing, tile shape, and module type via the inquiry form or by emailing office@aerocompact.com—then we’ll lay out the project before you calculate the costs.
